The Grand Cherokee's base engine is a V-6, but a V-8 is optional on Limited trims and above. It's between $2000 and $3000, depending on the trim level. Also, you're buying a Grand Cherokee get all-wheel drive. And as an added bonus, its hood apes the vented SRT piece. The Limited X includes a good amount of luxury trim-including leather seats (heated in front), Uconnect with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and 20-inch wheels-without the Limited's flashy chrome trim. Pricing and Which One to Buyįrom the pricing list, it's obvious there's a Grand Cherokee for every taste and budget. The Overland and Summit models get new interior-color options. Previously, it was limited to Limited and pricier. New wheel designs are available for the High Altitude model, and the Active Safety Group-which includes forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, active lane-keeping, and automatic high-beams-is now available on the Laredo trim. The new Premium Lighting Group is available on Grand Cherokee Laredo, Limited, and Trailhawk models and includes bi-xenon high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps, signature daytime running lights, LED fog lamps and auto high-beam headlamps. A single-pane sunroof is standard on Limited and Trailhawk models. The diesel six-cylinder is no longer available. Regardless of which version you choose, the Grand Cherokee is thoroughly competent-and thoroughly enjoyable. The base Laredo offers all the Grand Cherokee's legendary capability both on- and off-road at a tolerable price, while the upscale Summit coddles its occupants with a luxury-trimmed interior. Part of the Grand Cherokee's appeal lies in its ability to be tailored precisely to the needs of its owners. The current generation is old-having been introduced in 2010-but a series of small updates and roots shared with the old Mercedes-Benz ML-class have kept its appeal alive. It was one of the first SUVs that didn't punish its passengers, that was as at home bumping gently against a parking log as bouncing off a boulder in Moab. Even in a world where SUVs hadn't overrun the Earth, there would still be the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
